UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS FOR ALL ARTCOUSTIC LOUDSPEAKERS

Line Array

A line array is a loudspeaker system that is made up of a number of usually identical loudspeaker elements mounted in a line and fed in phase, to create a near-line source of sound. The distance between adjacent drivers is close enough that they constructively interfere with each other to send sound waves farther than traditional horn-loaded loudspeakers, and with a more evenly distributed sound output pattern.

When comparing line array speakers to traditional speaker systems, there are a number of key differences to consider. One of the biggest differences is in the way that sound is distributed. With traditional speaker systems, sound is typically projected in a single direction, which can result in uneven coverage and poor sound quality.

Line array speakers, on the other hand, use multiple small speakers to distribute sound more evenly. This means that regardless of where you are in the room, you’ll be able to hear a clear and consistent sound. Additionally, line array speakers are typically designed to provide more precise control over the sound, resulting in a clearer and more defined audio experience. This means that regardless of where you are in the room, you’ll be able to hear the same high-quality sound – no cheap seats in the cinema.

The most obvious benefit of line array speakers is their superior sound quality. Line array has reduced distortion and feedback ensuring a clean, clear sound. Line arrays are less room dependent and interfere less with surrounding boundaries, resulting in a more focused and detailed sound.

Line arrays can be oriented in any direction, but their primary use in public address is in vertical arrays which provide a very narrow vertical output pattern useful for focusing sound at audiences without wasting output energy on ceilings or empty air above the audience.

Line array speakers can be more easily adapted to suit the specific requirements of any room.

Dialogue

Unlike typical speakers where crossover points are determined by the drive units, Artcoustic speakers are not restricted. The tweeter plays lower than needed, and the mid plays higher than necessary. This freedom lets us choose crossover points far from the sensitive vocal frequencies, enhancing dialogue clarity.

The high sensitivity of Artcoustic products achieves the dynamic range demanded by Dolby and CEDIA in any room, while also reducing distortion.

Focusing on mid and high frequencies eliminates interference from low-frequency disturbances, preserving dialogue clarity. The Sub/Sat design choice, when executed well, ensures outstanding dynamics and clarity. Sub/Sat excels by completely removing the bass from the speaker cabinet. This lets the speaker perform as intended, undisturbed by low-frequency energy. Moreover, it optimizes the bass (subwoofer) placement in the room for optimal performance.

SL Series

With our SL Series we combine cinema-quality performance with high-end design for everyday living. Our speakers are uniquely designed to be scalable, delivering the ultimate sound experience, from the smallest room to the largest living space.

The SL Series has been subjected to several years of intensive testing and fine-tuning to deliver a truly unique and groundbreaking loudspeaker series. The challenge was to create a loudspeaker capable of the dynamics and power of a horn-loaded design, but with the accuracy and quality of a HiFi design. The solution was to employ an array of world-class drive units to provide incredible efficiency, output and accuracy, whilst also staying true to Artcoustic’s signature design ethos.

The SL Series offers freedom of colour choice from a vast selection of NCS and RAL colours. Standard speaker cabinet/grille colours are black/white.

Subwoofer Series

More than 20 years of subwoofer technology and acoustic evolution has developed into the most advanced and powerful subwoofer series ever produced by Artcoustic. The Artcoustic Sub Series is a low resonance frequency 4th order band pass design, which ensures powerful and clean bass. Ideal for professional applications such as recording and film studios, dedicated cinemas and fixed installations.

The Artcoustic bandpass subwoofers produce both deeper bass and extended sound pressure level, from a very small form factor. They are designed as a dual ported enclosure with an acoustical low pass filter in the front.

Bandpass Design

The Bandpass subwoofer is a specially designed subwoofer where the drivers are placed within a dedicated chamber. This process ensures that the cone produces a smoother sound while contributing more volume and output.

Bandpass subwoofers produce incredibly consistent sub-bass and bass soundwaves in virtually any environment, primarily since the ports work as an effective low-pass filter and since the enclosure only releases at the desired frequency range.

Bandpass subwoofers have a profound deep bass extension, with outstanding harmonics and detailed material reproduction.

The Bandpass subwoofer lets you control the cone motion, ensuring that lower excursion occurs. Since there is limited movement, you’ll experience less air circulation than other subwoofer designs, this results in a higher acoustic output.

Since a Bandpass box doesn’t push the drivers to the limit, you’ll notice higher long-term durability rates with these subs compared to other models. A bandpass subwoofer is built to provide low-frequency support for an extended time.

Main characteristic of bandpass enclosures which is universal is that they exert greater control over cone motion over a wider frequency band than conventional designs. Due to controlled, rapidly changing air pressure on either side of the woofer, the woofer is capable of producing high levels of acoustic output without physically moving very much. This means that the woofer is less likely to encounter excursion limits in the main part of the sub bass range.
